Mr. Kearns is currently the Percussion Director at Azle High School. During his time as Percussion Director at Burleson Centennial, the Burleson Centennial Indoor Drumline has been named a WGI World Championship Scholastic World Class Finalist 6 times consecutively, and was named the 2017 WGI Scholastic Open Class World Champion. The Centennial Indoor Drumline has been named NTCA Champion in World and Open Class a record 9 times. The Centennial Drumline has won the UIL 5A State Marching Contest Percussion Title 2 out of the last 3 years. Mr. Kearns was honored to be inducted into the NTCA Hall of Fame in 2026.

Prior to Centennial, Mr. Kearns was the percussion director at Azle High School from 2011-2015, and Palestine High School from 2008-2011. During his early years in Azle, the Azle Percussion program was consistently rewarded for excellence in both the NTCA and TCGC circuits, culminating in a 2015 WGI Scholastic World Class Semifinalist performance, as well as winning the TCGC Scholastic Open Class Championship.

Mr. Kearns is excited about his return to Azle. He cannot wait to continue the tradition of percussion excellence in the community and to work to support all aspects of the band program.
